Enjoyed our stay!

Birmingham | Family (the eldest child is at school)

Loved the narrowboat, loved the cruising up the river but the locks while most were ok to negotiate some where almost impossible. Far too much work for 2 people. While we loved the experience and would have a boating holiday again, would give the canals and locks a miss in future. Cant fault the narrowboat or the guys from Brookline. They give a fabulous service and are always on hand to assist.

Walsall | Couple

The team were excellent at coming out to us when the shower pump failed and again when we had engine problems. They were so prompt and helpful and did not make us feel an inconvenience. Would highly recommend this company.

Carterton oxfordshire | Family (the eldest child is at school)

Brookline staff were brilliant- friendly and helpful. Pearlbrook is a lovely little boat that suited our requirements perfectly. We'll definitely be booking with Brookline again. Many thanks for a great week.

Bournemouth | Couple

Suited us
Got what we booked and loved it
First time with our dog and no children
Size of Pearlbrook meant easier to find places to Moor
Making bed up was no hassle and was a nice size bed

Probably one of the most enjoyable getaway holidays my husband and I have had. We have travelled extensively but this was totally unique completely out of the ordinary and amazingly relaxing. To wake up somewhere different every day was a treat, the countryside, the views and the total peace we had was breathtakingly beautiful.
We were sorry to see the holiday end and will certainly be booking again for May of next year.

West Virginia USA | Couple

This was just what we needed a lovely relaxing holiday with fantastic weather. Thankyou the two her That was superb never seen so much storage space in such a small boat.

North Molton | Couple

On arrival we met Ben who was extremely friendly & knowledgeable. He showed us the workings of the narrowboat & then took us down the canal staying with us until we were confident. Ben even offered to return the following morning to help us negotiate the first lock.

Although the boat is not new, it was very clean & comfortable. It was very well equipped providing everything we could wish for. The shower has impressive pressure!

The scenery was beautiful. We decided against completing the Stourport Ring due to there being over one hundred locks & a crew of just two & a dog. Instead we cruised the river Severn mooring overnight at the Camp Inn pub then moving onto Stourport-on-Severn.

When unfortunately we had had a problem with the boat, which was entirely my fault, Ben came to our rescue arriving within 30 minutes of making the call. Nothing was too much trouble, he fixed the problem within 15 minutes. Ben is a real asset to Brookline Narrow boats!

Would definitely recommend this company, a thoroughly enjoyable week.

Burgh Heath, Surrey | Couple

The boat was excellent - very clean and tidy, beds comfortable with nice bedding etc. Could have done with a bit more putting - down space in the lounge area. Fridge needed replacing - but we were aware of that and Tony apologised for it at the beginning. Good heating. excellent value. The boat handled well. (But not in reverse - when do they?) Couldn't make the telly work at all and we found out you need to keep the revs up to get the water hot! Better instructions on tuning tv would be helpful.
The short break route is lovely with the trip on the river as well as the visits to Droitwich and Worcester. Recommend going anti-clockwise on the round trip. Be warned the locks are tough!

Great short break.

Minehead | Friends

very nice holiday. thoroughly enjoyed the week.
I had planned a route, as had been boating before and had some knowledge of the process, but the boat company had already decided on a route for us. We wanted to do the large flight of locks.

but still enjoyed the holiday and was able to experiencing travelling on the river instead.

Plymouth | Group

We had a lovely break on Springbrook. The boat had everything on board that we needed and was very comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing, watching the country side float by and had fun doing the locks! 😁

Family | (the eldest child is at school)

Enjoyed but a few to many locks at our age.

Llanelli | Couple

We LOVED this holiday! Even the rain (quite a lot of it!) couldn't dampen our spirits. We met some great people along the way and had a complete break from our normal working lives.

The handover was really friendly and informative, as we were complete novices, but it also managed to convince us that yes, we would be fine, but if we weren't, we could phone for help!

The idea for a short weekend route was perfect- we went to Worcester, Droitwich and then back to the boatyard, finding perfect moorings each time, sometimes only a flight of steps away from a pub or restaurant. We feel very proud of ourselves that we managed many locks, steered correctly into an electric lock, enjoyed about an hour's cruising on the river and didn't take any wrong turns! We now understand swing bridges and had the excitement of going under the M5 in a very low tunnel and also through the very long tunnel near the boatyard. We loved returning to our boat after a meal out, and waking up in the morning to the feel of gentle rocking and to the sound of ducks. It was a magical time- a bit like playing house-but as adults!
The boat was clean and well-equipped with nice fresh bed linen ( -and I stripped the beds at the end and everything was spotless- mattress, duvets, pillows). We were surprised that the TV gave a perfect picture, as we hadn't expected that, and the shower water was piping hot.
The only thing that could have made it better, would have been to supply two sets of waterproofs instead of one. The helmsman (my husband) was fine- the poor person doing the locks (me) got soaked!

Next time...I would possibly bring a pair of gloves for all the locks and a pair of waterproofs(!!)

Abergavenny | Couple

Great boatyard. Very thorough and useful briefing before departure. Lovely boat.

London | Couple

We had a fantastic holiday and the staff were brilliant.

Bognor regis Family | (the eldest child is at school)

Obviously space is restricted, but the shower needs to be a little more user friendly..

Ross-on-Wye | Couple

Bit nervous, as we were first timers but really friendly and patient staff. Thorough tutorial and induction.

Family | (the eldest child is at school)

A week long route, did over 100 locks, very tiring but great fun, slept well, had to clean fridge, it smelled terrible. Parts of route around Birmingham not so pretty - lots of grafitti on walls and rubbish in canal, wouldnt do this route again, but would hire a boat from this boatyard again.

Excellent experience with Bowbrook, Staff couldn't have been more helpful. thanks for a fab week.

LEYLAND | Friends

Really good boatyard. We really enjoyed the holiday, the guys at the yard imparted lots of information about the local area.

Basingstoke Family | (the eldest child is at school)

Great holiday would do it again.

Slough | Family (the eldest child is at school)

Lovely staff and boat. The canal was wonderful with a variety of challenges awaiting us. Getting onto the river Seven and heading up towards Stourport-on-Seven was a real treat. Great pubs throughout the journey. Would definitely do it all again.

Stockport | Group

Excellent service provided by the boat yard and the boat was well equipped. Even a coffee/tea/chocolate welcome pack with milk was provided for early refreshments upon initial take over.

Chichester | Family group with adult

Always love canal boating. Will be doing this again in the future.

Wantage | Group

Excellent tuition at the start, provided with patience and in a customer focused way. thank you Brookline for an excellent holiday.

Swindon | Family (the eldest child is at school)

Excellent fun.

Worcester | Family (the eldest child is at school)

We had a great time, boat was comfortable, clean and enough equipment for our needs. Staff were helpful and friendly. We would certainly do it again.

Somerset | Four adults

I was impressed with the handover of the Deanbrook boat. The boat had been well prepared and was fully fuelled, charged and cleaned. I was particularly impressed with the handover training that I was given. It fully prepared me for my holiday and I appreciated the patient explanation I received.

The boat, its handling and equipment all added up to an excellent holiday.

One of the toilets was leaking waste on flushing and this was raised at handover. An unsuccessful attempt was made to effect a repair. In the end this toilet was not used and onshore facilities were used wherever possible. The other toilet did cope and we didn’t need to have a pump out.

The weather was extremely wet. This limited which parts of the canal were accessible and the facilities we could access on shore. As I said we didn’t need a pump out. If we had that would have been problematic.

Bracknell Family | (the eldest child is at school)

Boat was showing its age /use, windows didn't work properly, security was very poor, the seating was uncomfortable and had an issue with the inverter, boatyard friendly and helpful.

Plymouth Family | (the eldest child is at school)

Hard to fault any aspect of the entire holiday, from booking to cruising. The boat was excellent, offering every amenity that could be expected or hoped for. Especially food prep. The handover briefing was as thorough as it needed to be, and then we were off for a truly wonderful family week. Handling was not an issue, and narrow locks made it even easier. We didn't get anywhere near as far as intended, so planning routes in future needs a fair bit of experience and time. Locks, especially bigger ones, gobble the hours. The supplied documentation was fine, but we ended up using Google Maps for locating shops and dining out locations. We did manage a sort of circular route down to Worcester, up to Kidderminster, back and across through Droitwich Spa, covering canals, river, locks, tunnels, etc. Urban and countryside. Very laid back. Lucky with the weather, but do be prepared to get wet. About the only flag of note is being advised more on mooring (off season not a problem, but can prove sticky if no berths) and etiquette. Most lock keepers are awesome (especially volunteer ones) but we did encounter one who had clearly got out of the wrong side of bed. And being able to share with our dogs made it complete.

Ross on Wye | Family with two Uni

I have marked down the value for money as we booked in peak times and seem to be very expensive compared to when we normally go in march april.

Could do with being comfier to sit outside & engine was noisy.
Staff at site were excellent.

The support we got on picking up the boat was first class. Nothing was too much trouble and they made the whole process feel very hassle free.

The beds were incredibly uncomfortable and small though (my husband is 6'4"), but that wasn't anyone's fault other than the bed.

The boat was very easy to manoeuvre and the holiday itself was a lot of fun for the whole family. I would highly recommend.

Essex Family | (the eldest child is at school)

We really enjoyed our trip, and appreciated the good service. Of course there are a bit more work on a holliday like this, but this was expected.

Odense | Denmark Family (the eldest child is at school)

Went with a group of lads and the staff were very welcoming even tho we may have been a bit loud. Overall the trip was fantastic any problems were sorted as quick as possible, would definitely do it again and would encourage anyone who is thinking of going.

Crewe | Group

A lovely 4night holiday at the end of May. Good size, well equipped kitchen, plenty of sleeping options. Boat’s internal decor isn’t particularly modern, but that didn’t stop it being comfortable and well equipped (even a few biscuits/tea/coffee provided!). Enough cupboards/drawers for clothes storage. A few well placed hooks would have been nice though to keep the hats/hoodies tidy 😊

Location excellent. Boat clean and well maintained. Benefited from a week of outstanding weather.

Newbury | Friends

Brilliant handover and tutorial- well equipped boat with everything you need and more. Fab time with friends and family. Would recommend heading to droitwich as opposed to Worcester as much more scenic and fun.

Lovely relaxing break along beautiful canals

Bromley Family | (with only pre-school children)

Rhyl | Friends

Great time but i think i chose a route with too many locks

Wimborne Family | (the eldest child is at school)

Excellent support from Tony at the boatyard. Great short ring via Droitwich canal for first timers, and longer routes accessible.

The layout of the boat was good but we would have preferred a more modern boat. The bathrooms were a bit water-damaged and not sufficient room in the shower and Shower curtains rather than shower doors. Bed too short. Kitchen well-equipped and a good size.

Shrewsbury Family | (the eldest child is at school)

The seating wasn't very comfortable and the kitchen could have been a bit more equipped with cooking vessels. We also had to use a shelf from the oven for the grill and then had to replace it when we needed to use the oven.
